About Angola

Angola sits on the south-western Atlantic coast of Africa, with Luanda as its capital and largest city. It is the second-largest Portuguese-speaking country after Brazil in area and population, and oil and diamonds dominate its economy. Independence from Portugal came in 1975, followed by a civil war that ended in 2002.
