Your progress belongs to you.
No accounts, no cookies, and nothing personal collected while you play.
Game progress
Your rounds, streak and stats are saved in this browser’s local storage, on your device, because the game needs them to remember where you are. Clearing site data removes them. No account is required, and progress does not sync between devices.
Anonymous round results
When you finish today’s puzzle, your browser sends the five round results: clues used, score, distance and whether you gave up. They go with a random ID made for that day only and never reused on another day, so one day’s results cannot be linked to another’s. We do not store your IP address. It is turned into a keyed hash, used only to limit how many requests one connection can make in an hour; the hashes are deleted within two hours. We use the results to show how everyone did and to make clues fairer, and we show totals only once at least 20 players have finished.
Nothing is sent when your browser sends Do Not Track, in classroom mode, or for archive, practice or past challenge games.
Usage measurement
Production pages use Vercel Web Analytics, which does not use cookies, to count visits and game actions such as completion and sharing. We turn it off when your browser sends Do Not Track. We do not send clue answers, pin coordinates, report text or email addresses in our custom events.
Children and schools
Atlas Daily is designed to be safe for children and classrooms to use, in line with the UK GDPR and the ICO’s Age Appropriate Design Code (the Children’s Code):
- There are no accounts, no sign-in and no cookies.
- Nothing personal is collected during play: no name, email, age or location. Pins on the globe are guesses, not where you are.
- There are no adverts, no chat and no contact with other players. Friend challenges share only a score and a puzzle link, and only when you choose to.
- Do Not Track is respected, as above.
- Only people aged 16 or over may register membership interest by email.
Teachers can read more on the Atlas Daily for teachers page.
Membership interest
You must be 16 or over to register interest. If you do, we store your email, chosen feature and consent time to contact you about membership. It is not a paid subscription. Email delivery is not yet active. You can request removal through the report form; include the address to remove and write “remove membership interest”.
Reports
We store the puzzle reference and report text for editorial review. Please avoid personal information. The collection endpoints use short-lived, hashed request limits to reduce spam.
Reminders and sharing
Calendar reminders stay in your calendar. Shared links contain the puzzle date, a content fingerprint, the score you choose to share and, if you add one, a display name. Friend scores are self-reported.
