About Equatorial Guinea
Equatorial Guinea is the only sovereign African state with Spanish as an official language. It pairs the mainland enclave of Rio Muni with islands including Bioko and Annobon. Oil discovered in 1995 made it one of the richest countries per person in Africa while the wealth stayed concentrated. Teodoro Obiang has led it since a 1979 coup.
