About Somalia
Somalia sits on the Horn of Africa, the easternmost country on the continent, with mainland Africa's longest coastline. Ancient trade with Egypt made it a candidate for the Land of Punt, and medieval sultanates dominated regional commerce. Since 1991 civil war and insurgency have shaped the federal republic governed from Mogadishu.
