About Djibouti
Djibouti is a small Horn of Africa republic at the southern entrance to the Red Sea, independent from France in 1977 and named after its capital city. Lake Assal, the lowest point in Africa, sits on a geologic tripoint of three tectonic plates. Its ports move the great majority of Ethiopian trade, and rent from foreign military bases is a major income source.
