About Uganda

Uganda is a landlocked East African country with its capital at Kampala. It holds a large share of Lake Victoria and rises to Mount Stanley at 5,109 metres. Independent from Britain in 1962, it endured Idi Amin's dictatorship before Yoweri Museveni took power in 1986. Its parks shelter mountain gorillas and it hosts more refugees than any other African country.
