About Guinea

Guinea is a West African republic on the Atlantic coast, with Conakry as its capital. It broke from France on 2 October 1958 under Sekou Toure and has since endured repeated military coups, the most recent in 2021. Its highlands give rise to the Niger, Gambia and Senegal rivers, and it is the world's second-largest producer of bauxite.
