About Cape Verde

Cape Verde is a ten-island volcanic archipelago in the eastern Atlantic, some 600 to 850 kilometres west of Dakar. Portuguese settlers arrived in 1462 and the islands became a slave-trade hub before independence in 1975. Today it is a stable democracy known for morna music, Cesaria Evora and a knockout-stage World Cup debut in 2026.
