About Sweden
Sweden is the largest and most populous Nordic country, with its capital at Stockholm. Once a great power that controlled much of the Baltic, it lost its eastern half, today's Finland, to Russia in 1809 and last went to war in 1814. It is now a constitutional monarchy that joined the European Union in 1995 and NATO in 2024.
