About Egypt
Egypt spans the northeast corner of Africa and, via the Sinai Peninsula, the southwest corner of Asia, with Cairo as its capital and largest city. Home to the Giza Necropolis and to some of the earliest writing and central government, it is considered a cradle of civilisation. Today it is the most populous country in the Arab world, and the Suez Canal makes it a pivot of global shipping.
