About Dominican Republic

The Dominican Republic fills the eastern five-eighths of Hispaniola, sharing the island with Haiti. Its capital, Santo Domingo, holds the first cathedral and fortress built in the Americas. Pico Duarte is the Caribbean's tallest peak and Lake Enriquillo its lowest point. Merengue, bachata and baseball are among its best-known exports.
