About Albania

Albania sits on the Balkan Peninsula between the Adriatic and Ionian Seas, with Tirana as its capital and largest city. Its history runs from Illyrian kingdoms and Skanderbeg's resistance to the Ottomans to independence in 1912 and the isolationist communist rule of Enver Hoxha. Today it is an EU candidate with a fast-growing tourism sector.
