About North Korea

North Korea occupies the northern half of the Korean Peninsula, with Pyongyang as its capital and largest city. Founded in 1948, it has been ruled by three generations of the Kim family under the state ideology of Juche. It is heavily militarized and nuclear-armed, and it is separated from South Korea by the world's most fortified border.
