About El Salvador
El Salvador is the smallest and most densely populated country on the American mainland and the only Central American state without a Caribbean coastline. Volcanoes shape its landscape and supply much of its electricity. A brutal civil war closed with the 1992 Chapultepec Peace Accords, and in 2001 the United States dollar replaced the colon.
