About Timor-Leste

Timor-Leste occupies the eastern half of the island of Timor, with its capital and largest city at Dili. A Portuguese colony until 1975, it was invaded and annexed by Indonesia before a United Nations supervised referendum in 1999. On 20 May 2002 it became the first new sovereign state of the 21st century. Portuguese and Tetum are its two official languages.
