Answers
Round 1 answer
Australia · Oceania
Clue 5: The location is Australia.
The answer is Australia, the sixth-largest country in the world and the flattest, driest inhabited continent. Its capital is Canberra, though Sydney and Melbourne are far larger, and about 95 percent of people live within 100 kilometres of the coast. Federated in 1901 from six British colonies, it hosts the Great Barrier Reef and a famously endemic wildlife including marsupials such as the koala and kangaroo.
Round 2 answer
Thailand · Asia
Clue 5: The location is Thailand.
Thailand is a Southeast Asian kingdom of nearly 66 million people, with Bangkok as its capital and largest city. Known internationally as Siam until 1939, it was the only state in the region never colonised by a Western power. Today it combines Theravada Buddhist culture, a vast tourism sector and Southeast Asia's largest automotive industry.
Round 3 answer
Uruguay · South America
Clue 5: The location is Uruguay.
Britain brokered its independence in 1828 as a buffer between Brazil and Argentina. The 1930 World Cup final was played in Montevideo's Estadio Centenario, built for the country's centenary. Pasture covers most of the land, and by the 2020s wind, hydro and biomass supplied nearly all of its electricity.
Round 4 answer
Honduras · North America
Clue 5: The location is Honduras.
Honduras is a Central American republic bordered by Guatemala, El Salvador and Nicaragua, with its capital and largest city at Tegucigalpa. Its Maya centre of Copan, the Bay Islands and the Rio Platano rainforest sit alongside a banana-export history that gave the world the phrase banana republic.
Round 5 answer
Dominica · North America
Clue 5: The location is Dominica.
Dominica is an island republic in the Lesser Antilles, with its capital at Roseau on the west coast. Nicknamed the Nature Island of the Caribbean, it holds Boiling Lake, 365 rivers and the endemic sisserou parrot that appears on its purple-bearing flag. Independent since 3 November 1978, it is the only eastern Caribbean island that still has a Kalinago population.
